The Maori developed a fantastic culture. They were hunters, fisherman, and raised plants - they didn´t have any farm animals. The Maori loved all kinds of decorations. They even decorated their own faces ta moko. And many clans also tattooed their things and buttocks. They wove cloth from the flax plant into elaborate patterns, were skilled at making Jewellery out of bone and green jade, and were experts at woodcarving. Houses, canoes, and weapons were covered with carvings of ancestors, spirits, and gods. The focal point of Maori village was a carved and decorated meeting house which served as the spiritual home of the clan.
