Why do people make New Year’s resolutions? And what is a New Year´s resolution?
A New Year’s resolution is a promise a person makes for the New Year. The main goal is to improve your life in the upcoming year. A resolution could be to improve in certain areas in your life and change the bad habit´s like, quit smoking or eating less junk food. Some people also set goals to develop good and positive habits. Good habit´s like helping other people more or start the habit to run at least 3 times a week. A New Year’s resolutions could also be to lose weight, get better grades or maybe to help other people more.
The reason why most New Year’s resolutions don’t hold stick is that the person who makes them doesn’t take his or her resolution seriously. The resolution might hold stick the first week or so but after a couple of moth most of the resolutions has already failed. Either you have eaten some fast food you shouldn’t have eaten or you think that one fast food meal wouldn’t do any harm.
Being realistic would make you accomplish your resolutions. You can’t make a resolution saying I want to win cycle races if you aren’t committed right? So if you want to accomplish you resolution you should aim lower and maybe change the resolution to “I want to be committed to my cycling next year and I want to compete among the top 10 ten in a least 8 races next year”. That’s a realistic goal and that’s a goal that you can achieve.
