"Keep holding on" is a song by a Canadian and French singer Avril Lavigne. The song is written and produced by the singer. The song is about friendships, and no matter what happens we stand together and never give up.
The construction of the poem is classic, because it is written in short lines, called verses which is grouped in stanzas. There are a lot of repetitions in the lyric. An example from the lyric I choose which shows that it is a classic poem is:
You're not alone
Together we stand
I'll be by your side you know I'll take your hand
When it gets cold
And it feels like the end
There's no place to go
You know I won't give in
No I won't give in
The whole lyric is build by 55 verses grouped in 9 stanzas. In the big picture the lyric is asymmetric, which means that the stanzas doesn’t have the same construction (amount of verses).
The lyric does also have some few rhymes (examples underneath the text). I think that rhymes make the lyric even better because it’s gets more fluid. Underneath you can see the rhyme scheme for the lyric I’ve chosen.
