Tattooing has become increasingly popular over the past few decades; as much as 1 in 5 adult Americans have a tattoo. The popularization of tattooing has led to many people being interested in the body decoration, especially in their late teens and twenties. Unfortunately a lot of them get it done without really considering the consequences. What things should you consider before getting a tattoo? Well here are some…

It’s a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling. A tattoo is something you’ll have to stand by your entire life. Sure, in the moment that butterfly tattoo, might seem like a fun idea, but are you still going to love it in 10 months? 10 years? One of the most regretted tattoos is “the boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s name”, which possibly turns into permanently having your ex’ name on your body. When you’re 70, and the tattoo is still there, what will your thoughts be on it?

Tattoos are like your favorite shirt, if you take away the fact that you can remove your clothes. It will loose color with washes, and it won’t look the same on your body forever. If it’s made from colored ink, going into chlorine water can alter the shades completely. And since you age your body doesn’t keep its shape, your skin will wrinkle and get saggy, and so will your tattoo. Not to mention, if you plan on getting pregnant or if you gain excessive amounts of weight, with a tattoo on fx your stomach, it will stretch and change shape, to look nothing like it did before.
