Frank William Abagnale Jr. is known for being a former conman. He grew up in Bronxville, New York. When he was 16 his parents got a divorce after 25 years of marriage. The judge asked Abagnale who he wanted to live with. He couldn’t decide so he ran away from home. He realized he couldn’t support himself without money, so he became a check impostor. Over ?ve years in the 1960’s, he used fake checks worth 2,5 million dollars in 26 diffrent countries (Denmark included). He served prison sentences in France and Sweden before he got handed to the US. Today he help ?rms prevent ?nancial frauds while he works for the FBI.

In 2013, he held a speech for FedTalks.  He talked about his life story. In the end of the speech he thanked his country, god and wife because he felt lucky. That shows he is has positive thoughts and energy. He said in the speech that he is proud of his children for achieving what they have achieved legally. “When my dad died I was in prison. I didn’t know he died but I kept thinking in my cell how I want to hold him, hug him, kiss him and tell him how sorry I was. But I never got the opportunity to do that.” This tells us that he regrets the criminal activity he has been making. He regrets not talking to his dad while he still had the chance. “I was very fortunate, because I was brought up to a great country where everyone gets a second chance. I owe my country a hundred times more than i could ever repay it for the opportunities it has given me for the past 37 years. That is why i help the FBI today. 26 years beyond my legal obligation to do so.” Instead of hating his country for imprison him, he thanked them because he knows what he did was wrong. He believes he deserved worse but feels fortunate for being where he is now. That is why he always stays positive and remembers to thank everyone who helped him be the person he is today.
