What happens to people when the die? Do they disappear or stay with you to guide and help you through life? When a person dies their family and loved ones are left with grief and sorrow. It‘s probably the toughest thing to go through in your life.
In my essay I am going to analyze and interpret the short story “No Angel” by Bernie McGill. I will look at the main character and the relationship between her and the other characters in the story. I will also focus on the story’s composition and the use of supernatural elements.
“No Angel” from 2010 describes a series of visits a woman has from her dead father. In it, she describes five different times she has seen him, and the talks that they have had. The main character of the story is a woman named Annie. Annie has lost her brother, mother, and her father. The short story is mainly based on the visits she gets from her father. They have made a huge impression on her. They mean a lot to her, and it is very clear that her father meant a lot to her when he was alive. As the story tells, she and her father were the only living members of the family for the last 22 years of her father’s life. I believe that they were very close as a result of being alone for this time. When her father visits her after his death, he still helps her through life. He tries to guide her, and make sure that she makes good choices in her life.
