The author’s name is Philippe Durpasquier. The name of the story is ‘Bill’s New Frock’. The main character is Bill Simpson. Bill is a boy, who goes in school. One morning he wakes up. He gets out of the bed and walks straight to the mirror. He suddenly notices that something is completely wrong. He is a girl! His mother comes and tells him to wear a nice pink dress. He doesn’t want to wear it at school, but his mother says that he has to. When he comes to his school, nobody notices that he is a girl. He thinks that it is very weird. He goes to class. The teacher tells Bill’s friend, Philip, that he has done some nice work. Bill can’t understand what the teacher means. Bill takes Philip’s book and compares it with his own work. Bill thinks that his work is much better than Philip’s. He becomes mad. When the class is over, he goes to the school yard. When Bill comes out, he sees some people talking. He walks toward them. One of them bets that no one dares kick a football through the cloakroom. Bill says that he will do it, but he doesn’t have a ball. Some boys are playing football across the yard. He runs over there and takes the ball. The boys tell Bill to get out of the pitch. He says that he really needs the ball. When a football match is played, you can always stop the game and borrow the ball, but only if it is for a bet, that’s a rule. But they see Bill as a girl in a frock, so they act like they haven’t even heard him. But he takes the ball, and the boys become mad at Bill. They tell him to give them back the ball, but he won’t. He ends up having a fight with Malcolm on his way home. The pink frock becomes a mess, just dirty all the way round. He gets home, and his mother is chocked when she sees him. She takes the dress and puts it into the washing machine. He changes to jeans and shirt. Everything is now fine again. He’s a boy again!
