The poem “Revelation” consist of 3 stanzas, each with 4 lines. That makes a total of 12 lines. The poem can be a little difficult to read at first, because word like “flout” and “agitated”. The poem can be difficult to read too, because of the structure of the sentences, e.g. “We make ourselves a place apart, behind light words that tease and flout, but oh, the agitated heart till someone finds us really”. What I make out of this is that we separate ourselves from the world, hiding what’s really going on with ourselves. We try to be someone else, and ignore the mean words and bad things that are hurting us. It hurts until someone finds the real you.

The mood and atmosphere in the poem, is rather serious. Since it is about life, and how you have to find yourself and be that person. I will again take a quote from the first stanza; “But oh, the agitated heart, till someone finds us really out.” We need to be true to ourselves, otherwise someone will figure it out for us sooner or later. Robert Frost is also saying that we are hiding behind the stupidity of ourselves, and the foolish things we say, he is expressing this by saying; “(Or so we say) that in the in the end, we speak the literal to inspire, the understanding of a friend.” The title is relevant for this quote too. “Revelation” means that you understand something fully or when you finally get it. This would be “The understanding of a friend.”
