Analyse af 'Dead Poets Society' og 'The Road Not Taken'

This is an assignment about the film 'Dead Poets Society' and the poem 'The Road Not Taken' by Robert Frost. In the assignment I will focus on Mr. Keating and the impact he has on the boys.

Mr. Keating thinks that people should follow their dreams and walk their own path, no matter what others might say or think. Like he says in the courtyard scene: ”Trust that your beliefs are unique, even though others may think them odd or unpopular.” He teaches the boys to be more independent and to be who they want to be, not what others want them to be.

In courtyard scene Mr. Keating also says ”Swim against the stream!”. He tells the boys to be themselves, follow their own dreams and choose their own path. Do what THEY want to do and what THEY love to do, because then they will end up a much happier and complete person. In addition, he says that they should always believe in themselves, because they are all unique and they shouldn't care about what other say or think about them.

In the poem 'The Road Not Taken' Robert writes about a decision he made. That he took the road less travelled, which made the whole difference for him. He picked the road that he wanted to take, and not the one everyone else wanted him to pick, even though it was hard to resist the pressure. He has never regretted doing that.
