In the US more than 40% of the households owns one or more firearms. The US is one of the countries with easiest access to get hold of a firearm, more than 40% of the gun sales are with no background checks so that means that any person even a felon could buy a gun. The US is funny enough also one of the countries with the highest number of public mass shootings like the one that recently happened in Orlando or one of their many famous school shootings like Columbine.

Many pro-gun activists claim that carrying a gun makes them feel safer and that it gives them freedom which is what the US is most famous for: being the land of freedom. Many also thinks that is the average citizens own job to be able to protect themselves and their family, they don’t think that the police is enough. Some even think that is a necessity to bear firearms and they don’t want that right taken away from them. The NRA (National Rifle Association) who is a non-profit organisation which claims to work for the average citizens right to bear arms to be able to protect themselves and their family. In 2013 the NRA had more than 5 million members and supporters. They support the second amendment (the right of the people to keep and bear arms) and wishes to maintain it.
