The text I read, which is written by Andrew Marshall, is about guns and their use in the West, in fact in the whole world, especially in the US. In the beginning Marshall gives us some statistics to ponder about. He shows us that in the US there are almost 300 times more shootings (that leads to killings) than in e.g. Britain. In America 6,000 pupils were expelled last year for bringing guns to school.
There is an epidemic of gun violence evolving in the US. Kip Kinkel killed two of his schoolmates and we also have the example of Columbine High School in front of us. Pupils who often get bullied or picked on, those who does not fit in, or the ones who seem a bit weird that can tend to do these kind of abominable things because they get pushed to the edge by their fellow students, or maybe just because they have a kind of mental problem.
The main problem is that Americans think that it is their right to have a knife, an AK-47, a 9 mm or some other weapon lying under their bed. I detest this sick way of thinking. Some people even adopt this to be one of their greatest rights. It is even their methodology and it gives them "peace of the mind so that they can sleep at night". Rubbish, I say!
