Ungdomskultur: Emo og goth, selvudtryk og identitet

Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. When it comes to defining future youth cultures, we can only guess.

We know that youth cultures and subcultures come and go. We also know that events in society may trigger a reaction from a group of young adults. And we have learnt from history that young people have the need to express their opinions when they feel wronged.

But rebellion is not the only thing that defines a youth culture. Music and fashion influence youth cultures in similar ways and are used as means of self- expression.

Poem

Just as many of you know, I`m attending an author club. And there are a lot of different teens there. One of my closest friends named Jacob is an emo. And I`ve talked about this topic with him a lot of times. So when I told him about this project we had about the youth culture, I asked him if he could write a short poem, about how it feels to be an emo. And so he did.

“It starts with pain

Followed by hate

Filled by the endless questions

No one can answer

A stain

Covers your heart

And tears you apart

Just like a sleeping cancer.
