The world wide web defines antisocial behaviour this way: Anti-social behaviour (with or without hyphen) is behaviour that lacks consideration for others and that may cause damage to society, whether intentionally or through negligence, as opposed to pro-social behaviour, behaviour that helps or benefits society.

In the article ”Teens who leave school before 18 could face criminal action”, statistics state that ”the proportion of 16 to 17 year olds not in education, employment or training has increased from 7 percent in 1997 to 9 percent this year(2007).” This seems to be a major problem in the UK, with statistics stating that antisocial teens are becoming a greater and greater problem.

That is why I can definitely see some sense in the government stepping in, as the problem has potential to harm the UK on the long run. And what numbers the government put forward to meet this problem! 24.000 community officers and so far one billion pounds have been put into the campaign against antisocial behaviour. The community officers to keep an eye out for bunking students and help the police out with issues such as bunking, antisocial behaviour and so-called “properties from hell”. The money then, are going out to youth clubs, a yob hotline and parenting classes to the families of persistent misbehaviour.
