The little mermaid. The little mermaid is a sculpture on Langelinie that offers travelers welcome in Copenhagen harbor. It will illustrate Hans Christian Andersen fairytale of the same name. The little mermaid was a gift to Copenhagen, donated by brewer Carl Jacobsen and executed by sculptor Edvard Eriksen. As a model for the sculpture used Edvard Eriksen's wife Eline Eriksen. The statue was set permanently at Langelinie, 23 August 1913 [1] and is one of Denmark's biggest tourist attractions.
