He started to show interest in performing when he was around 12 years old, it all started when he bought a guitar. One of the bands he made was in honor for his girlfriend called, Meredith.
When Depp was 15 years old he dropped out of high school, because he wanted to become a Rockstar.
Just 2 weeks after Depp dropped out he wanted to start school again. However, the Rector advised him to follow his dream which Depp did.
Not long after, Depp had found himself in a band called The Kids. The band became famous in the neighborhood. But they wanted to be famous in the whole US. Thus, they went to Los Angeles to sign a record contract. Time went by with no contract and they ended up, splitting up.
Depp then joined a band called Rock City Angeles where he helped write their song “Mary”.
Depp made his breakthrough in late 1980’s when he became a teen idol because of his role in 21 jump street as an undercover police officer in a high school. The series was hosted by Fox television, the series had debut on April 12, 1987. Depp stopped playing the undercover police man in 1990 when he felt that the series “forced him into the role product”. Depp decided only to appear in films that he felt was right for him.
