Arranged marriages is when the bride and groom are selected by their family. In many countries it’s a marriage between two families and not just two individuals, so it’s not only about the union of two souls but the union of two families. The family of the spouses choose a partner for their family member. This means that the two families will get along, revealing the worry that your parents may not like the spouse that you’ve chosen. This also means that the bond between the families are better when it’s chosen by themselves. The parents arrange the marriage for their child, sometimes because they think that they can make the right choice for their child and that it’s the perfect partner and maybe for other reasons too.

I think arranged marriages is fine if there is acceptance from both partners and if the child is mature enough for a marriage. It’s effectively the exact same thing if your friends or family sets you up on a date with someone or when people use the dating websites. They meet and get to know each other. The couple then makes the decision whether to accept the marriage or not. And the parents should and often respect their choice.
