Being owned by another person, and working under their feet.

Being chained or tortured as punishment for not working and doing what they want.

A condition of working for someone while being underpaid.

There are a lot of different ways to be a slave, in the 21st century. It’s changed a lot since the old days, which is why, it’s not so common anymore, except it is. Many people just don’t realise it, because it’s easier to hide these days.

The different ways to be a slave could be, for example, people around 15-17 who work while studying and going to school. You need a lot of energy to keep everything in place, while also being nice to customers and doing your job right. For example, in grocery stores you need to memorize what’s on sale and what isn’t, or else the customers get kind of upset. You do that for 65kr per hour. While also having to keep a social life, and do homework, go to school. It’s hard, and for that money, it’s underpaid. That’s modern slavery.

There are also other kinds of slavery, and it’s one everyone knows, and often socialize with black people; being owned by another person. In the 1800’s, the slaves were black. White people were ruling the world and making blacks work beneath them. Which of course was wrong. But today, it doesn’t only happen to black people. Many whites are being kidnapped and transferred to other countries to work as slaves. It’s secret, which is why the people who escaped told everyone about it. That’s how we know what it is.
