Why I have chosen this theme: I chose this theme, because I think it is a very exciting subject, and because it is a worldwide problem. I have also chosen this theme because eating disorders stands very close to me.
It is under the main theme: “At risk” because it is a risk you take. You can get killed of it, or get really badly sick.
Different kinds of eating disorders:- Anorexia- Bulimia- Compulsive eatingUK Statistics: 1.1 million.- 90.000 receiving treatment.- 1996-2006: increased by 48% on the NHS Hospital in UK.- Girls/women 10 times more likely to get the illness than boys/men.- Men with eating disorders in UK increased with 66% on 10 years.- 15-20% of people with eating disorders are men.Case story:- Kaylee, 15 years old, Arsenal.- Got Anorexia on a trip to Barcelona, 2006.- Prom night looked like a 12 year old girl.- Weighed 42kg when she was 15 years old.- At the time when she was 17 she weighed 37,5kg.- On her 20th birthday she weighed 41kg.- She gets treatment now, and weighs 43kg. 21 years old.
My opinion:- It’s a terrible disease.- Bulimia stands close to me, very ugly and dangerous disease.- Hope it will be destroyed soon.
