It was dark when I finally reached the farm. A lamp shimmered, and the old oak tree, which was placed in the middle of the courtyard, threw long shadows on the roof. I was freezing and my leg was still hurting after falling of the horse. Before I even knocked on the door a lock was opened and a crack of light came to sight. I couldn’t see anybody and for a short moment I was thinking about turning around. But where was I supposed to run? There’s no houses around here.
My hands were shaking when I pushed the door open and carefully yelled out in the empty hall “Hello, anybody home?” I yelled, but no answer ”I’m sorry to interrupt, but I fell of my horse and need to borrow a phone, so I can call home” still no answer..
On the walls were a lot of trophies hanging of stuffed, exotic animals and on a little table was a candle burning. Next to the candle was an old photo.
Down the hall was a door, slightly ajar, but not enough to actually look into the room. I think it’s the door to the living room. Maybe there was a phone, it took a lot for me to think positive. The farmer is probably out feeding the animals, and if he comes home, I can explain that it was an emergency. I quickly walked by the stuffed animals, heads of gazelles, zebras, bisons, staring into thin air with a clear look. It was almost like I could taste the dust.
