In this essay, I want to describe and analyze the picture seen down below, called “New York”. It represents a probably normal day in the big city, with many people in a big hurry. It takes place in a big street in New York, where you see a section of it. There are many people, but the “main person”, are the one who stands out, and also the one you first see on the picture. He looks like a homeless person, and wears a big white jacket and holds a newspaper in his hands. The picture is taken from behind everybody else on the picture, and he is the only one which face we get to see in front. The other persons who appear are wearing kind of “formally” clothe, at least compared to the homeless. The man on the left side wears a tuxedo. It seems like a normal afternoon in New York. People may have just got off work, and all are in a big hurry to get home (or something else). It is very dynamic and there are very much life in the picture, but I think the thing you think most at, is the homeless man in front. Without him, there had not really been a picture, at least not a good one. It is clearly him, the photograph wants us to think about, and see first. (Which we clearly do). He is completely wrapped in his big coat which also covers most of his face. However, it is still possible to see his facial expression, which looks kind of desperate and sad.
