The first text “Is Tattooing a Form of Self-mutilation?” was written by Andy Carrington. It is based on the discussion of what tattoos are, where we here Andy saying “whatever the reason, a tattoo is a permanent marking of the body, giving the individual a physical element of distinction”
For him, a tattoo is a way to express yourself, but also a way to use it for self-mutilation, and he also says that the problem is that often these lines a blurred, so you don’t know if this particular tattoo is meaningful.
Andy doesn’t care about tattoos that much, but he thinks is importin that you think well about it and that the tattoo is meaningful too you.
The second text “Tattoos were once a sign of rebellion – now they are evidence of craven conformity to cultural norms” was written by Brendan O’Neill. Here Brendan O’Neill brings up the discussion, why are tattoos a problem when you are looking for a job?
Brendan O’Neill doesn’t seem to be against tattoos, but he warns young people that a tattoos might cost you a job opportunity, and again that’s why you have to get tattoo only if it is meaningful to you and not just for fun.
