In this assignment is there 3 different texts. The 3 texts have different meanings about veganism and why we should be a vegan or not. But I general what does the word “veganism” mean and which attitudes do the three text have?
The word” veganism” in brief means, that you not are allowed to eat meat, fish or dairy diet. The big reason why people want to be a “vegan” is because they want to help the animals. The animals feel pain when they are dying and because of that the vegans try to help them to feel less pain.
Text 1 “Half a million Britons are now vegans” is text written by a staff reporter for the British daily newspaper “Daily mail”. The staff reporter’s attitude is praise towards the veganism. The writer is not saying that he like the veganism, but he is only showing positive statistics about the rise of veganism. The writer is referring to big athletes that has become vegan and means that it is because of the veganism, that they did have done what they have done. “The dramatic rise in those sticking up to the strict no-meat, fish or dairy diet- up 247 per cent from 150,000 a decade ago- has been put down to more people trying for a healthy lifestyle and growing concerns about treatment of animals by the food industry”. (P.2 ll4-9). Here we can see he is using the statistic to give an account of how good and popular it is to be a vegan.
