We have been reading the texts ”On the streets of binge Britain”, ”The perils of binge drinking” and “Binge drinking is good for you” and we saw the movie trainspotting.

The text “On the streets of binge Britain” is a story about how things have changed in the typical British towns over the recent years, what the statistic shows us, the problem about alcopops and why binge drinking is such a serious problem.

We know from the text that all the old stores, like butchers etc. were closed down, and bars opened instead. The number of bars was growing and people got used to see a bar almost on every corner. The statistic shows us that the British people are drinking more and more, and over 40 million of work days are lost due to drinking abuse every year, and that is quite a lot when we get a number on it. Another problem is the alcopops. The young people are drinking more and more, because the drinks taste better and better, like Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Breezer, Cult etc. young people who don’t like the taste of beer or other strong drinks might love the new alcopops, and therefore also drink. But the real problem about binge drinking is not that young people, or just people in ordinary, is drinking and getting wasted, but the real problem is that they get drunk and angry. People are getting drunk and end up in a fight and someone ends up on the hospital. Sometimes people are just harassing some random guy and might just attack a person that really haven’t done anything wrong. This will also affect the police force and the hospital, when the police have to move out to stop fights and maybe arrest someone. The hospitals have to take care of people that have been beaten by some random bully, and the state have to pay for both of them.
