Personbeskrivelse af Winnie og Nelson Mandela

Biography of Winnie and Nelson Mandela: Rolihlahla Mandela, also called Nelson Mandela was a black man, who was an anti-apartheid-activist, political leader, and became the first black president of South Africa in May 1994. Nelson was driven by a belief in human rights. His passion led him to pursue racial equality, the right to vote and equal human rights. Nelson dedicated his whole life to his beliefs and spent 27 years in prison. Nelson was a non-violent man and so was his actions. He understood that while it was important to forgive, history must never forget its troubled past. Nelson wanted peace, not more segregation in the country. He understood that the key to moving forward as a nation was learning and understanding from its troubled past. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was Nelson’s second wife. She took over Nelson’s leader role, when he went to prison. But Winnie herself was arrested and tortured, while Nelson was in Prison, because she was tired of waiting. Winnie wanted revenge over the whites, so she made her people fight with weapons, like fire and stones. She took a violent turn on the fight for racial equality. Maybe that is what they needed, but more and more blacks died.
