Abstract

Since the electric lightbulb was first turned on by Thomas Edison, we have dreamt of an electronic future, where not only the light and appliances in our houses were electric, but also our way of transportation. The world has for most of its history, shunned the electric automobile, as an inferior mode of transport, compared to the gasoline chugging engine of the petrol driven car. But the future looks as bright as ever for electric vehicles and it is in part due to Tesla Inc. Whom has managed to do the unthinkable. Tesla is an idealistic company, with huge dreams and prospects for the future of electric transportation. And their Model-S electric Sedan, is their greatest attempt yet, to accelerate us into an age of sustainability and innovation. The Model-S is not comparable to other electric cars, since it puts performance, elegance and efficiency at the top of its list. In this assignment I wish to answer why the world of electric vehicles went dark for so long, and also why the Model-S has been such an enormous success in the western world. In the end, I wish to come with my own opinion as to what could define the future cars of Tesla.
