Thank you for your letter of December 15, 2015. I am pleased to hear that there also in Denmark is many people who are interested in minimizing food waste.

From your letter I can see that you want to know more about "social supermarkets "which have become very popular in large parts of Europe. The target audience is people who find it hard to make money. One of the reasons why these supermarkets have been successful is because the customers Are treated as real customers. "Social supermarkets" do not feed their goods away but offer customers the goods at very low prices.

There are almost only advantages to this concept. Food Manufacturers and Retailers donate goods that they cannot sell. Customers can then buy cheap goods, and the nonprofit organizations that run "social

supermarkets "can make a significant difference for people in need. There is also less food waste as most products on the shelves are sold, which is good for the environment. Society also reduces its welfare benefits.

Regarding your questions about the details of starting and running a "social supermarket", I would ask you to contact Sarali Dunwell. She has practical experience from Community shop, which is a store in England.
