Analyse af filmen 'Niceville' (The Help)

In the last week or so, we have been working with a film called Niceville (The Help). It's a film that took place in the early 1960s, in a town called Jackson in Mississippi. It's about how it is to be black, and how the white people treat the black. It's a pretty good film but it's also a bit rough because it's not easy to be black in the southern states like Mississippi. Everything is split up so that no white ever would need to touch something a black had touched. also The black people also couldn't get a nice job, especially the women, they had to be housemaids and please the whites with all their needs. And if they did anything wrong, they would get fired. In the film the main character is a young white woman called Skeeter, she works for a newspaper company. There are also Hilly Holbrook, Celia Foote, and Aibileen. Hilly is an upper-class white woman, she's the queen bee of Jackson, she was once good friends with Skeeter. Celia Foote is also an upper-class white, but when she got married to Hilly Holbrook's Ex-boyfriend, Hilly started keeping Celia out of everything, and wouldn't talk to her again. And at last Aibileen and she's a black housemaid, who works for a person called Elizabeth Leefolt. So, in the film, there are quite a good number of people to remember. As you may have noticed there are lot of upper-class white women, and that's also what the film is primarily based on, them and how it is to be an upper-class and their housemaids. In the 1960s in the southern states there is a lot of trouble with being black, since you have no right to do anything, and you have to keep quiet about everything you do, and if you say something to anyone, and you get caught doing it, you're in a whole lot of trouble, and could possibly end up getting killed. It's in no way nice to be black in those times especially if you come from the southern states. And totally opposite we have the upper-class white people, which can do whatever they want to without anyone ever daring to try and prove them wrong. If the housemaids don't do their job well enough you can either cut their salary or fire them.
