The Righteous Anger of the Parkland Shooting's Teen Survivors.

On Valentine’s day 2018 chaos reigned in the Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida, when a student, Nikolas Cruz, opened fire, effectively killing 14 other students and three teachers, leaving the remainder of the school terrified and angry. The students’ fear and anger is something the non-fiction article “The Righteous Anger of the Parkland Shooting's Teen Survivors”, written by Robinson Meyer on the 17th of February 2018, really brings to light, letting the rest of the world know the horror of survival, and the anger of injustice that follows seeing your friends die by the hands of one of their own.

Meyer uses pathos in his article to show respect and compassion to the survivors of the shooting and to evoke those feelings in his reader as well. He uses ethos - credibility - by using survivors’ tweets to show that he is not just making it up and to back up his own claims and he uses logos to appeal to the readers who, like him and the students at Stoneman Douglas High School, believes that gun control needs to happen as soon as possible. The sentences are not too long, not super short either, making them pleasant to read for as many people as possible, language is high, but without using too many difficult words, which will ultimately exclude people who may not have to education or language needed to understand such words.
