Cyberbullying: Views and Rhetorical Analysis

Give an outline of the views on cyper-bullying presented in text 1 and 2;

Cyper-bullying is a huge problem all over the world and the target can be anyone. Generally it is the young ones who suffer and as Nina Lakhani says in text 1, one in five children has been a victim of the cyper-bullying and Lakhani also calls attentions to the fact that it can end up with a suicide. Both of the two texts revolve around the problem with cyper-bullying, but the writers have different opinions about whether it is the bully, the society or yourself, you have to blame. Lakhani and Krotoski agree that cyper-bullying can cause more damage than traditional forms of bullying, because of the fact that you cannot hide from the internet today. Especially Lakhani points out a quote by the principle lecturer, Steve Walker, who believes that because of the cyper-bullies hidden identities as well as the immediately spreading of massages and images, the cyper-victims can feel like they cannot run from the bullying and therefore feel more humiliated and hurt. Lakhani believes that the society has some of the responsibility, and encourages them to take a look on the anti-bullying campaigns and work with the young people. Cyper-bullying is a serious problem but Krotoski believes that it is because the internet is to open for everybody, so it encourages youngsters to communicate through the internet instead of real-life and offers the freedom to preach about your positions irrespective of whether it hurts somebodies feelings.
