In this essay I will be accounting for the development of advertising. I will comment on the extent of advertising today, and the future of advertising.

The word Advertising can be chased back to the old civilizations. Advertising became a major and important force in the capitalistic economy in the middle of the 19 century, primarily based on newspapers and magazines. In 1941 the first TV announcement aired on American screens.

1960’s was the time when the competition really took place and the importance of holding on to the customers and users was critical, so in that way did advertising become a lot more important and automatically became a bigger thing. The importance of a company was almost defined by how good they were at advertising and marketing them self. It all changed in 1990, because of the new method, the websites.

The first company that had a website was Bristol-Myers Squibb, the thoughts behind making an website was so that they could advertise for their product Excedrin and it turned out be one of the smartest moves, because it became a big success for them and they managed to increase their business with millions of new consumers and customers.
