Et summary skal:

være skrevet i nutid

introducere tekstens titel og forfatter

introducere tema

være objektivt og uden kommentarer til teksten

være kort (150 ord - plus/minus 10%)

kun være skrevet i et afsnit.

være uden citater fra teksten.

Et summary gengiver kort og objektivt tekstens vigtigste indhold.

Good advice when writing a summary

Before writing:

Read the text so carefully that you know it well.

Put the text away before writing.

While writing:

Think ultra-short, use your own words to produce a skeleton text.

Speed writing can be a good tool. (see purple box below)

Introduction: Your reader does not know the text and you must therefore introduce the text to the reader.

“The short story “Sunshine” by Anne Billson describes how ….”

A good introduction introduces the topic/theme of the text within the first lines.
