The mountain gorilla lives in groups, on the border between Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. During the 20th country, a combination of hunting and habitat destruction drove this very rare primate to verge of extension.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN GORILLA

The mountain gorilla is an omnivore, meaning it eats plants and meat. The majority of the mountain gorillas live on the border between Rwanda and Congo but are also spotted in Uganda. Even through the gorillas seem aggressive, mainly because of their obvious strength, they are in fact comparatively shy, and doesn't attack without a reason. However, when threatened, the mountain gorillas, make some beats on their enormous chests, and start running towards whoever are willing to compete. But as mentioned this rarely happens.

The mountain gorillas are a gregarious animal, meaning that it likes to move in groups. The groups usually consist of 30 members, led by the oldest adult male, often referred to as a silverback, because of the silver hair on its back. The gorillas are off course, because of their name, always trying to reach higher altitudes, or more specifically, to move up on the mountains. The gorillas therefore have thick hair, to protect them against coldness. When the temperature on earth are constantly raising this will lead to the gorillas being overheated, and then die.
