SHAKA HISTORY
The Zulus:
They call themselves “the people of the heavens”.
Zulu means sky.
Their history started in the 14th century.
Over 9 million zulus presently, they make up about 22% of the population in S.A. Most of the Zulus live in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Their language Isizulu is spoken by a myriad of people in South Africa making it one of the most widely spoken languages in the country.
Culture is regarded very highly by the zulus. They believe in spiritual presences and they have ancient traditions and rituals concerning the topic of culture.
Shaka:
Son of a local chief evicted, he hated his wife and his unwanted son, with his mom, from his own clan.
They were forced to flee to a new tripe, where Shaka grew up being bullied because of his fatherlessness.
As an adolescent he discovered his own talents. He was a tall, stoic, and daring master of the young people in the tripe. He wanted power and drafted into the tripes regiments. Now he could demonstrate his power.
When his father died in 1816, there were a whole lot of problems regarding the heritage this made Shaka seize the opportunity to conquer the power.
