The research method ”experiment” was used in the “bobo-doll” experiment conducted in 1961 by Albert Bandura. Experimental methods involve manipulating variables to establish causal relationships. The key feature is the controlled method and random assignment of participants to controlled and experimental groups.

Experiments are investigations that scientifically test hypotheses. In the experiment, manipulate the independent variable (cause) and measure the dependent variable (effect); control any unrelated variables.

One advantage is that the experiment should be objective. The views and opinions of researchers should not affect the results of the research. This is good because it makes the data more valid and has less deviation.

There is a few different types of experiment such as, lab experiment and field experiment. A laboratory experiment is an experiment performed under highly controlled conditions (not necessarily a laboratory) under which accurate measurements can be made.

Researchers decide where, when, with which participants, under what circumstances, and using standardized procedures the experiment will be conducted. Participants were randomly assigned to each independent variable group. Some of the strengths of this type of experiment would be that it for example It is easier to replicate laboratory experiments. This is due to the use of standardized procedures. Another example would be They allow precise control of irrelevant variables and independent variables. This allows causality to be established. When talking about a method of experiment we also need to take in to account the limitations, the limitation for this would definite be that The artificial setting may produce unnatural behaviors that do not reflect real life, that is, low ecological validity. This means that it is impossible to generalize these findings to real life.
