Survival of the Fittest: En ø-overlevelseshistorie

I woke up. I must have fallen asleep, because the last thing I remember, is walking into this helicopter with five of my camp friends. I looked around; the others looked kinda nervous. “Hey where are we heading?” I asked. They all looked at me weirdly, John answered sharply “weren´t you listening fool” and rolled his eyes. John was the sports guy, the only reason he was sent to the camp, was because his parents thought he needed some discipline. Amanda (the most beautiful and generous person I know) quickly answered we are going to an unnamed island, and made a big smile. It made me happy. David looked outside the window, and said “guys I think we made it” David was a computer guy. He was very nerdy, but fun, he is actually one of my best friends, if not my best. And if you wondered about me, my name is Olajide, and well I consider myself a bit of a geek. I LOVE school, I LOVE learning new stuff, and I LOVE watching documentaries, especially the “How to Survive” ones. We all looked outside the windows. We indeed had arrived.

A couple minutes later we landed, everyone ran out as soon as the doors opened. It was beautiful. Probably the most beautiful place I had ever seen. “Wow its ugly here”, it sounded from the door, we all turned around confused. It was Kate. Kate was kind of a pessimist, so I didn´t really like her, but David had a huge crush on her. I never found out why, but I accepted it as his best friend. “Shut up you fucking moron” John said trying to impress Amanda. David shouted “no you shut up, you big bully!” John walked towards David. They stared at each other, and it was obvious they were about to fight, if someone didn´t interfere, but luckily for us our teacher came out, and stopped them. He began to speak “As you all know, I will be leaving you guys here for 24 hours” My heart skipped a beat, did I hear correct. It all began to come back. I suddenly remembered what happened and why I was here. I was terrified. Our teacher continued “in exactly 3 minutes I will be taking off, and then I will return exactly 24 hours later” The others nodded. After some time, he left. We were all alone on this Island. John said “well let´s get started, I will get some wood for the fireplace, David and Olajide you can get some food, and you girls just stay here, the men will do the hard work. I could see Kate got offended by his comment, but she didn´t do anything about it. We all went our separate ways, got the stuff we were supposed to, and returned a couple of hours later.
