In the northeast part of Arizona, in a dusty New Mexican town are there a place looking like the good old cowboy-movies. Johnny Smith took his two teenage sons on a vacation they will remember. He took them to the dusty New Mexican town where they stayed with a poor Navajo family and they spent the week hauling rocks for a new community center. Why do people choose to spend their holiday working? How does it benefit the people who get help and which benefits do they get? And how does it benefit the families who choose to spend their holiday working?
There are both advantages and disadvantages about the fact that some children spent their holidays working. On the one hand, it is good because the children learn by themselves, how to be the best version of themselves. They learn how to treat people better and help out others. And it is also good, because they learn how to make a difference and make the world a better place. It is also good in the way, that the children get new acquaintance, which may help the children in the future. On the other hand, it is bad because maybe in the future the children may feel a need and feel responsible for helping everyone when they are on their holidays instead of just relax, have fun and enjoy their holiday – even though a surveyor from Boston called Smith said, that it was a lot more fun than sitting around at the beach, it can still be turned into a disadvantage in the future because they may feel these kinds of responsibilities. It is also bad because it is expensive to help these people and not everyone will be able to afford these kinds of holidays.
