The song “Human” from “The Killers” uses many metaphors and sentences that people will interpret in many ways, because everyone maybe imagines something different.
Interpretation of some bits:
When the singer said: “And sometimes I get nervous, When I see an open door”, I think he is talking about new things, and the unknown when he said, “open door”. Open door is used as a symbol and he gets anxious and nervous, because you never know what can happen trying new things and meeting new people out of your comfort zone.
He also said: “Wave goodbye, Wish me well, You've gotta let me go”, which means that this person/or this situation that he has been in, has taught him many things throughout his journey in life and has been there for him, but he needs to move on and step out of his comfort zone, which is not possible if the people he needs to let behind are holding on to him and won’t let him go.
He wants him or her to wish him well and wave goodbye, so he can move on and find himself and learn new things.
When singing; “close your eyes, Clear your heart” he is talking about how you should do what your heart tells you to do and not what your head or other people maybe are telling you.
