April 15th, 1912, I was 16 old when it happened. The way I felt during the accident is still to this day, so clear to me.

I went on board the Titanic together with my whole family and everything seemed fine. We were all a bit nervous and excited because we were going to cross a great ocean for the first time. The ship was new and supposed to be unsinkable, so it was said. I looked around and everywhere I saw happy, thrilled people waving goodbye as the ship sailed of. The first few days passed quickly. We enjoyed the sun from the deck, played cards and talked to the other passengers.

On the fourth day I went to sleep early. My family had a small cabin on the third level, and we were all asleep when it happened. A loud noise sounding like a big bang woke us all up. It was the first sound of chaos. Within few minutes we heard people screaming in panic and running outside our cabin. We all knew something terrible had happened but not how bad it was. My mom tried to keep calm as she told us kids to quickly get dressed and then we all left the cabin to try to reach the lifeboats on the upper deck. I had so many thoughts at that moment. Fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. As we reached the deck we were faced with the truth. Titanic had hit an enormous iceberg in the middle of the ocean and the ship were already on its way down. The ice-cold water was everywhere, no land in sight. The staff members were all busy getting the few lifeboats ready, but it was clear to everybody that there were not enough lifeboats for everybody. The unsinkable ship was going to sink, and many people were going to drown.
