Titanic: En personlig beretning

leftrightI was supposed to be going on a trip to New York with my mother, but it did not end like that. We left the coast April 10th, and had a nice sail from there, the ship was not just luxurious but huge too. There were over 3000 people on the ship, so it was like a huge hotel. My mother did not want me to go exploring the ship by myself, but I rarely listened, and ended up getting lost sometimes, but I was always found in the end. I was not very old, but I still remember so many things from it like it was yesterday. We were supposed to go see our dad, who was waiting at the port of New York for our return. Two days before our supposed arrival, we are hit by what seems to have been a giant iceberg, everyone on the ship starts panicking and so do we, luckily I was a child and my mother was well a women, so we are both lucky to be let on the safety boats that the ship had, many of the men were not able to go because there was not enough space for them, the ship ended up sinking slowly into the ocean. The ship started by raising in altitude to then sink all the way down underneath the ocean surface. Luckily, a lot of the passengers including me were able to get a spot in the very crammed rowing boats, but there was also the same amount of people that were in the ocean freezing to death (literally). It took some time, but in the end, we were still able to arrive in New York, it took one more day than what was supposed to happen, after having the luxurious ship for 5 days, being reduced to a crammed lifeboat, was the opposite of enjoyable. My dad heard about the arrival and had rushed to the ports. When he saw us, he looked very relieved? He told us that he did not know what to do, when we didn’t show up yesterday, and that he was not able to get any sleep the day before. Even though I was not that young at the time, the memories are still vivid, and I feel sad for all the men that had to die to give space to us, on the boats. Whenever I feel sad I remember that someone gave their life so I could be saved on this boat, and I push a bit harder than I normally would.
