Johnson’s speech revolves around 3 main points Protection, Togetherness, and Friendship. During the first part of the speech, he goes into detail about how he is going to up the money for police and how all the citizens of Britain can get the medical help they require (Protection). Afterward, he talks about how the British people regardless of ethnicity, skin color, gender, or sexual preference should all be treated equally and have equal opportunity in the free sovereign country of Britain (Togetherness). Lastly, he states that the relationship between Britain and the EU will remain positive and then he reassures the people of Britain that leaving the EU was the right move by listing a few positive features they gained by leaving (Friendship).

The Speech “First speech as Prime Minister in full” is held by Boris Johnson. He held the speech due to him being allected as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on July the 24th 2019. With this speech, Johnson must make a good impression on the British people as this is the first major speech he has given to date. Johnson uses many important topics and makes his intentions clear as he still needs to win over the rest of the British people who didn’t vote for him. One of these topics is the equal rights movement that is so popular these days. He states that “For our inventiveness, for our humor, for our universities, our scientists, our armed forces, our diplomacy, for the equalities on which we insist – whether race or gender or LGBT or the right of every girl in the world to 12 years of quality education”, he includes all of the people in the UK but especially mentions race, gender, LGBT and women as these are the main victims of discrimination and unequal rights. He finishes this part of the speech by bounding this topic as one of the values behind the British Flag and standing as a supporter of these important movements (“Everyone knows the values that our flag represents.”)
