The Catsnake

A long, long time ago, people feared the catsnake that ate nothing else than little babies. The catsnake lived up in the mountains but came down when it found out that new babies had arrived. So, when the king and queen finally dared to have a child no one found out, because people could gossip to the catsnake. The royal couple kept it a secret for everyone not even their servants knew they had got a child so, when one of the maids found the baby up in the room. The rumour spread quickly around the village and the same night the baby was taken by the catsnake. The royal couple was very sad for a long time but one day they chose to try to have a child again. This time they would instead of keeping it a secret have guards on their child all day long. It worked and for 3 months the catsnake did not dare to attack the royal child and therefore had to make the perfect plan to get in, take the child and get out again. So, when it went to catch and eat the child it had made such a good plan that the guards did not have time to see or notice that the child was gone. When they then found out the child was gone it was too late, when the king sent everyone from the village out to look for the child. After several hours of searching, one of the women in the village found some of the child's clothes and was able to figure out that the child had been eaten by the catsnake. The king was furious why the catsnake should live next to their village and eat all their babies. So, he knew he had to make a plan to kill the catsnake, but he needed a son by his side and a better trained army than the one he had at the moment to defeat it. He started by picking up the best warrior in the neighbour village who should come and train all the men. The most important thing about the plan was that the catsnake did not have to find out that the royal couple had got another baby. Which they had sent to the neighbour village so that the catsnake would not discover him. 20 years later the men of the village had become good warriors and the boy had become a man so once and for all the king, his son and the army went up to kill the catsnake. They killed it and people could now have as many children as they wanted without being afraid that the catsnake would eat them.
