The problem is that in USA gymnastics the coaches and doctors have more one on one time with the athlete than their parent. They have ridicules amount of influence on a young child who just wants to be recognized. Who will tolerate everything just to be seen. A problem that in many cases lead to abuse of power affecting children in a sickening way. - A point also given in the article from Washington Post

In America sports is a major part of their culture, bringing huge groups of people together supporting their cities and even mor importantly their country at world championships and the Olympics. Sports makes us feel like a part of something it makes us feel important.

When you think of gymnastics you immediately think USA, because USA is the goat, when it comes to gymnastics. In America winning gold is what matters the most.
