Here I am, sitting in an abandoned shed waiting for my ride to the city. It is freezing cold, and I watch my warm breath steam out into the freezing atmosphere. The rain falls on the thin metal roof covering the hard wooden bench that I am sitting on. The noise intensifies as the falling water increases from a drizzle to a downpour. A puddle forms a few feet away from the protection of the covered bus stop. The raindrops fall like tiny bombs into the small pool. In the puddle I can see the reflection of the sky the same sky that only few months ago was the sunny witness to one of my fondest days. I lean back, listening to the bombarding thump thump of the rain, and think back upon my happiest memories from the passed summer.

The trees were green and vibrant, clearly enjoying the sun and peaceful showers that accompany the summer months. Just like the trees I was lively and vivacious, eager to discover what exciting surprises life would throw at me. I was invigorated, filled with a newfound drive and desire to live. Brian and I had met only a few weeks prior, but already I felt as if I had known him for a lifetime. His presence sent a shiver of joy down my spine. Had I found the man of my dreams, or was this happy reality in fact only an illusion created by my brain to give me yet another fleeting dose of the love drugs to which I had become addicted?
