The idea about the buy nothing day was meant well. And it is a good idea, but the campaigns purpose will never be successful. There will always be some people that will shop when they want to, and some posters and media attention about the no shopping day, can’t stop them. It might even provoke someone to shop that day, just to let everybody know that they can’t control them. There will also be the ones, who will respect this day, but they will shop the day after, or some other day. And then they will just spend more money the next day. Because shopping has become such a big part of many persons life, and there will always be those, who cant live without spending money every day. It could be the media and celebrities, who are to blame for the increase of shoppers. They are the ones most people look up to, we all want to look just like them, and have the same things. And with all the fashion shows, commercials and other public influential things, it can be hard to keep up, and always be ‘up to date’ with the new style. It has also become a comforting thing to shop. Because it can make you feel better, if you spoil yourself with some new things. Even though they only are material.
