B Everyone likes entertainment, we spend a great deal of our time by being entertained in various ways. We can easily say, that every human being is dependent on different kinds of entertainment that we use during every single day. Sometimes we experience an incredible good show and we leave the place truly amazed, thinking how this and that were possible in the show. The confusing bits to the dangerouse parts were you can almost hear the rush of excitement running through the audience, sometimes followed by releave. This is the case of the short story "The Knife Thrower" were the story takes place on the scene and in the audience. The story is told by some persons in the audience, as "we" is used when a thought or sudden feelings comes across, this makes me feel like I´m participating in the story, like I'm sitting there among the audience experiencing Hensch and the dicipline of throwing a knife. It's a bit intimidating though, how the writer is using the audience to tell the story, because we can feel what the audience feel. The idea of a knife thrower and a artfull wound, the mark of blood that was the mark of the master, is rather creepy too. The fact that many young women longed to be wounded by the master is disturbing, but three women in the story have been marked and the audience loved it. The excitement and danger of the performence makes the crowd want more. Though the feeling of being ashamed doesn't escape the people attending the show. Very well knowing that it wasn't blood they have come for, but what the audience has come for we don't know. What we do know is that confusion and frustration plays a big part under the show, because whether people were applauding for the wellness or the wounds that were maked on the contributers or the touch of the master, who had crossed the line, isn't clear. Frustation comes in when Susan Parker wanted to be wounded by the master and was succesfully selected by the assistent, the storyteller "we" wanted to cry out, that Susan had to sit down and that she didn't had to do this, but "we" didn't do that though. We had already lay our trust upon this man Hensch, for his extraordinary talent, he was playing a dangerous game, but had already taken the audience into the forbidden, and they wanted more. "The ultimate sacrifice" The final mark that only can be received by one. At first nobody raised their hand, but later on a girl volunteared to be marked, but this time it was different from the others, because the knife didn't stroke wood this time, but her flesh and the girl falls to the ground. After this Hensch acknowledged the audience for the first time in a deep bow, the bow of the master. The audience left the theater agreeing that it was a very skillful performence, but knowing that the knife thrower had gone too far, but he had nonetheless justified his reputation. I as reader feel the same way. I don't like the thought of the knife thrower, because it doesn't make me feel safe. If this is a kind of entertainment that really was performed with young women voluntearing to be wounded, what would be next? C2 Must of us like talkshows, frankly we find others problems very entertaining, because sometimes we can relate to them and other times the stories that people tell are so extreme
