The song is about a man, who meets a girl on a bar. She tells him that her dad is loaded and in that case he orders a rum and coca-cola! The girl tells him that she does not want to live like that, she wants to live like normal people like him. The man tells her that she never can live like common people. There is an example in the text line 28 where the man says:

“But she didn’t understand

She just smiled and held my hand.

Rent a flat above a shop

Cut your hair and get a job

Smoke some fags and play some pool

Pretend you never went to school

But still you’ll never get it right

‘cos when you’re laid in bed at night

Watching roaches climb the wall

If you called your dad he could stop it all”

And the man means if you had been grown up with all that money you can not pretend normal, because when she needs some money or have any kind of troubles, she always can call her dad to help her.

It is the girl who is speaking in the song about her life. She is talking about she don’t like to be rich and she would like to be like a normal person. The girl grew up rich and never needed anything, because she always got it all. In the song she sounds sad and at the same time she does not understand the man’s words about being normal and she never will.
