I have chosen to write about the relationship between black and white people because it’s a very interesting subject to talk about, and there is a lot of history in topic. I can’t see why people should be treated differently just because there not the same color.
Black slaves:
The first shipment of slaves came to America in 1518. When they arrived to the states they were handed out, like it was some kind of free market. The black slaves worked in the fields, because they could take the hard work in the heat. But when Lincoln was elected to be the president of America the slaves where free, but it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. They couldn’t read or spell, so they couldn’t get a good job. They ended up working for the white people again to have place to sleep and food on the table. But the white didn’t treat them better than before. Lincoln saw his plan did not work, so the government made a law that the white and black should be separated into different places.
Martin Luther King Junior:
Back in the older days being black wasn’t a good thing, you couldn’t take the bus if it was a white man who drove it, or there were any white people in it. Being black was the biggest problem you could have. You could only live in a little house because there weren’t so many who wanted a black man to work for them. This entire thing Martin Luther King junior and a lot of others grew up with. Martin Luther was the one who said the very famous words “I have a dream”. He was the first black man to win the Nobel peace price. He made a big difference to the black people; they could get better jobs, houses and live a better life. He got shoot in a hotel in 1968. After Martin Luther King died it all got better for the black people, the whites where finally trying to expect them, but it took a while before it happen.
