What is the Marshall plan and what would it.

The Marshall Plan also called the European Recovery Program, ERP) was a plan from the US. They wanted to rebuild and create a stronger foundation for the countries of Western Europe so they could stop communism after World War II. The plan was called after the Secretary of State George Catlett Marshall. June 5. Secretary of State George C. Marshall spoke at Harvard University and outlined what would become known as the Marshall Plan. Marshall also offered the aid to the Soviet Union and its allies in Eastern Europe, but Stalin thought that the program was a trick and refused to participate when he didn’t wanted the west to have any influence on the east Europe. On 16 April 1948 the Organisation for European economic Co-operation ( OEEC) was made of the 16 countries . The organization lasted four years from. 1948-52. the deal was that the United States offered up to $20 billion to the westeurope, but only if the European nations could get together and draw up a rational plan on how they would use the aid.
