Consumerism drives economics but also financially tears people apart because people take material things over spiritual things which makes them spend more money. They need loans from banks and can't pay the banks back.

What is consumerism, consumerism is used in economics which links to a movement that promotes right and safety of consumer that began in the early 1900s. It is also used in philosophy. In philosophy consumerism refers to a way that people prefer and replace material things than spiritual things, when you live by the high value material things you tend to consume more. Consumerism have always been in the world, but in the 1760s the industrial revolution began, and humans began to mass produce. Patterns began to form the first pattern was an increase in consumption by all socioeconomic classes that were driven by producers, making excess of products and created a market for it. The second was Radical rift it was when products began to ship everywhere in the world it meant that there was not much interaction between the producers and people. The Industrial revolution also meant that we shifted from a production orientated society to a consumer orientated society which meant that there where a smaller part of producers that could produce more products.
