Dear Father, February 12, 1942This is your youngest daughter [NAVN C]. Mom and I didn’t got a tree last November. So the week before Christmas morning Mom, [NAVN A] and I couldn’t do as we use to do, get the tree ready, put popcorn and holly on the tree for decorations. Mom ever found some old food dye so we could color the popcorn red and green for Christmas spirit. On Christmas morning our aunt [NAVN D] and Aunt [NAVN E] came over with all of our cousins. This really helped bring up the mood of everyone. We didn’t have that much food but Mom and Aunt [NAVN E] tried cooked a meal for us and we all sang to bring up the mood even more. No one received any presents this year because money is so tight because of the war. My cousin [NAVN B] brought a soccer ball and we all played soccer as a family. We used the old trash cans you had in the barn for goals. I remember what you taught me and I made 2 goals. Our team won the game 3 to 1. [NAVN B] made another goal for our team, and Aunt [NAVN D] made the only goal for the other team. Then father after we were done playing outside, we went in as Aunt [NAVN E] was just finishing the meal, which She cooks so wonderfully, she was so proud of the meal that night. For dinner we had peas, fruit, beats and a little ham. All of us ate all we could and there was still more left over. But we didn’t get anything for dessert. Then After we were all finished eating, we sang one last song together as we danced around all happy holding hands and spinning around the room. After that song everyone had to go home to their own home. It was so hard to say goodbye to my cousins and Aunts. They slowly left one by one, until it was just Mom, [NAVN A] and I in the house all alone. We decided to leave the dirty dishes until tomorrow. So then we took our showers then crawled into bed with mom and went to sleep. [NAVN A] and I were so happy.I miss you father.
